What Makes HEART9 So Special?
Many priests and catechists carry within their hearts a deep desire to renew and deepen the devotion of the Nine First Fridays. They seek ways to strengthen devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in parish and community life and to make reparation for the sins by which His Heart is continually offended. HEART9 is the first publication that undertakes the challenge of guiding children through this devotion while offering formative activities intended to help them experience this time more deeply and encourage their hearts to respond with love to the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
We Hold Fast to Jesus’ Promise
The last of the promises that Jesus entrusted to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque reads:
“In the excess of the mercy of My Heart, I promise you that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays for nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die in My displeasure nor without receiving the sacraments, and My Heart shall be their secure refuge at the hour of death.“
By helping and encouraging children to practice the devotion of the Nine First Fridays, we enable them to become participants in this beautiful promise. Let us hold fast to this promise and, filled with trust, take refuge in the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It will lead us safely through every storm of life—if only we allow it to do so.
How Did It All Begin?
There were twelve promises entrusted by Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. Each one is worth getting to know. However, returning to the very beginning and to the idea behind creating these retreats, it is impossible not to recall one particular promise:
“The names of those who spread this devotion shall be written in My Heart and shall remain there forever.“
Yes, it is true—we, the people involved in creating these retreats, desire to remain forever in this Heart. And through this shared journey, we want to invite each one of you to join us and become another apostle, reminding the world of the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus!
